This week I have major progress on the writing of my dissertation as with the break in filming from waiting on interviews to take place and having adequate research conducted to complete the dissertation. A good few weeks ago I already completed my introduction as I already had the title and wanted to get that written as a basis for when I came back to it.

I have the first draft of my literature review done, now obviously it's still going to need a lot of work and another two rewrites at the minimum to get it to level I want as in truth my goal is to aim for a first. The language does need improvement and I need to better weave in my references for the points I am trying to make.

The main 4 topics I have chosen for the literature review where, storytelling, cinematography, editing and sound which in my opinion if all four of those areas are well done a documentary can indeed be classified as "cinematic". Using my research I backed up my points with evidence. At the moment it is very word rich and I want to implement images and visuals to show my arguments with another element.

Another thing I have been up to with maria's project is we went to film a GAA training session with an LGBT team to gather b-roll for her documentary and organise interviews with members of the team. I was operating camera and I decided to use my gimbal to get a variety of different moving shots such as orbits, cranes and dolly's. I found as well which was an aesthetic choice I made on-site for a couple shots was to take some long takes using zooms and a lot of tracking to ball to make some of the footage feel more authentic almost as if it was archive footage.

In the introductory section of my script I have made some changes cutting out a lot of sections and removing some repetitive words as that introduction section I have heard it a hundred times by now have taken notice to this. I have shortened it to allow for more to be added in later sections as the introduction seems to quite long.

Last but not least as I am making great progress with the dissertation and everything is set in motion for the documentary with all the preproduction work complete I have been having less meetings with my supervisor and just getting on with the work. I am giving him updates and I have been asking for help where needed notably in relation to risk assessment and ethics.
