Final Project Development Blog 10

This week I have managed to film my final interview at the Belfast city hall with the chief executive, John Walsh. as for the interview I used standard three point lighting and got the microphone nice and close and both visuals and audio turned out great! one note I had forgot to get a signature for the release from on the day but I have sent an email to get it digitally signed.

With this I have been able to include into the current draft of the documentary and I kept it quite simple just simple cuts as I learned from Orfhlaiths interview to keep the questions and answers from the interview short and sweet, which meant it fit the narrative more appropriately.

I also ended up moving the titles closer to the beginning as before they where quite far in after my montage sequence which felt more appropriate. With this I have sent my first draft which is fully put together I have sent my first draft to Maria (the producer) for review and this was her response;

I believe the opinions and perspectives of others is crucial to the development of the film and even spotting mistakes I cannot and I have pretty much implemented all her suggestions into the documentary as they are good points and after doing them I am glad I followed through as they improve the over feel of the film.

I also made significant changes to script in the introductory section and tried to take out as much as possible to give room for myself to slow the narration as it was too fast. at this point I believe this will be the last draft if the script and all that is left is to make my titles, graphs and add sound design and music.

I have received feedback from keith on my dissertation and I have written my second draft this week improving the language and structure and as keith suggested there where points I had mentioned but hadn't referenced such as Bill Nicholls and documentary genre. moving forward I dont think I will be changing to much more with the dissertation, maybe change a few things here and there if needed but for the most part my focus now is my appendix which I added all my preproduction and production material such as scripts, treatment, release forms, budget and I will add an epk once I finish my trailer.
